MOPH collaborates with WHO and partners to launch the COVID-19 Migrant Hotline in 3 languages, providing COVID-19 information to migrants in Thailand

          The Department of Disease Control (DDC), Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is collaborating with the World Health Organizations (WHO) and its partners to launch the COVID-19 Migrant Hotline (at 1422) to provide health education and related COVID-19 information in 3 languages for migrants who are staying in Thailand. They hope that this hotline can improve health literacy and be one of the solutions that can resolve the outbreak.

          On 29 April 2020 at the Department of Disease Control MoPH, Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, the Director General of the Department of Disease Control with Dr. Daniel Kertesz, the WHO Representative to Thailand presided over the launching ceremony of the COVID-19 Migrant Hotline, established to support migrant workers in Thailand to access services and information related to COVID-19. The ceremony was also attended by distinguished delegates from various sectors, i.e. the International Organization for Migration, the Division of Health Economics and Health Security under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and NGO partners including Raks Thai Foundation and Supanimit Foundation.

          Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai stated that the COVID-19 situation in Thailand has caused the need for health information in many dimensions. The COVID-19 Migrant Hotline will be an important resource for the group of workers who live in Thailand. They can access accurate information such as self-protection practices that allow for effective disease control. The report from the Ministry of Public Health on 25 April 2020 stated that 42 migrant workers were confirmed with COVID-19 on that day.

          This reflects the need for information distribution among migrant workers more than ever. There is collaboration with volunteers from the World Vision Foundation of Thailand and Raks Thai Foundation to answer questions via the hotline. This hotline can be reached at 1422 (Department of Disease Control Hotline) then dialing 81 for Cambodian, dial 82 for Lao, and dial 83 for Burmese. The COVID-19 Migrant Hotline will be available from 1 May 2020 onwards.

          Dr. Daniel Kertesz said that the World Health Organization has been collaborating with the Ministry of Public Health and related departments continuously. Key staff members of the Thai NGOs trained educators (called “Kru Gor”) to be able to teach migrant workers from the three neighboring countries including​ Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. It is expected that the COVID-19 Migrant Hotline can ameliorate​ the barriers to receive information on COVID-19 and on accessing healthcare.

สธ. ร่วมกับ WHO และเครือข่าย เปิดตัวสายด่วน 3 ภาษาเพื่อนบ้าน ตอบคำถามโรคโควิด-19 แก่แรงงานข้ามชาติในไทย

          กรมควบคุมโรค กระทรวงสาธารณสุข ร่วมกับองค์การอนามัยโลก (WHO) องค์กรพัฒนาเอกชน (NGO partners) และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง เปิดบริการสายด่วน 3 ภาษาเพื่อนบ้าน เพื่อให้ข้อมูลและตอบคำถามเกี่ยวกับโรคโควิด-19 ในแรงงานข้ามชาติในไทย หวังให้แรงงานดูแลตนเองอย่างถูกต้อง ทำให้ควบคุมโรคในประเทศไทยได้มีประสิทธิภาพ

          วันนี้(29 เมษายน 2563) ที่กรมควบคุมโรค กระทรวงสาธารณสุข นายแพทย์สุวรรณชัย วัฒนายิ่งเจริญชัย อธิบดีกรมควบคุมโรค เป็นประธานร่วมกับ Dr. Daniel Kertesz ผู้แทนองค์การอนามัยโลกประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง ได้แก่ องค์การระหว่างประเทศเพื่อการโยกย้ายถิ่นฐาน (IOM) กองเศรษฐกิจสุขภาพและหลักประกันสุขภาพ กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ  องค์กรพัฒนาเอกชน (NGO partners) มูลนิธิรักษ์ไทย และมูลนิธิศุภนิมิตแห่งประเทศไทย ร่วมเปิดตัว “สายด่วนแรงงานข้ามชาติ” (migrant hotline) เพื่อสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานเเละความต้องการของกลุ่มเเรงงานข้ามชาติในไทยให้เข้าถึงข้อมูลอย่างถูกต้อง

          นายแพทย์สุวรรณชัย กล่าวว่า จากสถานการณ์การระบาดของโรคติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรนา 2019 (โควิด-19) ในประเทศไทย ทำให้เกิดความต้องการข้อมูลทางด้านสุขภาพในหลากหลายมิติ ซึ่งสายด่วนแรงงานข้ามชาตินี้จะเป็นกลไกที่สำคัญสำหรับกลุ่มแรงงานที่พำนักในประเทศไทย ให้สามารถเข้าถึงข้อมูลได้อย่างถูกต้อง ทั้งการป้องกันตนเอง ส่งผลให้เกิดการควบคุมโรคที่มีประสิทธิภาพ โดยจากรายงานของกระทรวงสาธารณสุข เมื่อวันที่ 25 เมษายน 2563 ที่ผ่านมา พบว่ามีแรงงานข้ามชาติ จำนวน 42 รายป่วยด้วยโรคโควิด-19 จึงสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความจำเป็นในการกระจายข้อมูลข่าวสารที่เจาะจงต่อกลุ่มเเรงงานเหล่านี้ให้มากขึ้นกว่าเดิม ซึ่งได้รับความร่วมมือจากอาสาสมัครของมูลนิธิศุภนิมิตแห่งประเทศไทย เเละมูลนิธิรักษ์ไทย ในการช่วยตอบคำถาม ผ่านสายด่วน   ซึ่งสายด่วนนี้สามารถโทรได้ที่เบอร์ 1422 (สายด่วนกรมควบคุมโรค) โดยกดหมายเลขเข้าสู่ระบบภาษาเพื่อนบ้านที่ต้องการ ดังนี้ ภาษากัมพูชา กดหมายเลข 81  ภาษาลาว กดหมายเลข 82  และภาษาเมียนมา กดหมายเลข 83 ซึ่งเบอร์สายด่วนนี้จะเริ่มให้บริการตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 พฤษภาคม 2563 เป็นต้นไป

          ด้าน Dr. Daniel กล่าวว่า องค์การอนามัยโลกได้ร่วมดำเนินงานกับกระทรวงสาธารณสุข และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ผ่านศักยภาพกลุ่มเจ้าหน้าที่หลักขององค์กรพัฒนาเอกชนไทย (Thai NGOs) ให้เป็นครู ก. เพื่อให้สามารถสอนแรงงานข้ามชาติจากประเทศเพื่อนบ้านทั้ง 3 ประเทศ คือ กัมพูชา ลาว และเมียนมา ซึ่งคิดว่าสายด่วนนี้จะสามารถลดปัญหาการไม่ได้รับข้อมูลข่าวสารเเละหลักประกันต่างๆ ได้
