Thailand hosted the 6th Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Ministerial Meeting highlighting multi-sectoral cooperation to achieve the GHSA goals by 2024.
Thailand received the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Steering Group Chairmanship from the Netherlands on the 20th November during the 6th GHSA Ministerial Meeting hosted by Thailand via a virtual platform during 18 – 20 November 2020. In addition, Thailand had supported the sixteen virtual Pre-Ministerial Side Meetings during October 2020. The total of approximately 1,000 ministers, delegates, ambassadors of the embassies in Thailand and worldwide, participants, and observers as well as development partners (WHO, FAO, OIE) from more than 40 countries had attended the meetings.
Today, (20 November 2020) at Millenium Hilton Bangkok, H.E Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health assigned Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrachit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health together with the Ambassador of the Netherlands (H.E. Mr. Kees Rade) along with Dr. Sura Wisedsak, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health and Dr. Opart Karnkawinpong, Acting Director General, Department of Disease Control (DDC) joined the opening of the 6th Global Health Security Agenda Ministerial Meeting.
During the past 10 months, the world has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, countries has learned and adapted to respond to this health crisis and to reduce its negative impacts. The pandemic has reiterated the importance of multisectoral collaboration among the government and private sectors and the people. Moreover, international collaboration has become more needed as no country can fight the crisis threat alone.
Thailand is highly honor to join the GHSA community as its Steering Group for a 5 year-term (2019-2023) and to serve as chair of the Steering Group in 2021. Thailand is also honor to be appreciated by the Director General of the World Health Organization (Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus) for being able to effectively control the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Opacity stated that although the meeting has been held virtually for the first time due to the travel restriction during the COVID-19 pandemic, still it can draw a high interest from both the GHSA member and the non-member countries worldwide. This reflects the countries’ strong bonds and commitments work closely to achieve the goals of building health security for people around the world under the GHSA 2024 Framework. The framework has been guiding and supporting various aspects including human resource capacity building to prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats which is considered one of the key success factors that the top leaders of the GHSA member countries have given priority to.
This 6th GHSA Ministerial Meeting is an important step forward for every country all around the world. Thailand has exchanged and learned tremendous lessons and is well aware of the utmost importance of Global Health Security. The meeting has reiterated that a continue and strong “Whole of Society” preparedness is a foundation for prompt and effective responses to emerging health threats which will be occurring on a matter of time. The financial preparedness is a new aspect to be enhanced and a balance between health and economy investments has to be emphasized.

ไทยเป็นเจ้าภาพการประชุมระดับรัฐมนตรีว่าด้วยวาระความมั่นคงด้านสุขภาพโลก ครั้งที่ 6 ชูเรื่องความร่วมมือทุกภาคส่วน เพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายภายในปี 2024
ประเทศไทยรับมอบเป็นประธานจากประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ พร้อมทำงานด้านวาระความมั่นคงด้านสุขภาพโลก (GHSA) โดยชูเรื่องความร่วมมือจากทุกภาคส่วนในการทำงานจากนี้ หวังบรรลุเป้าหมาย GHSA ภายในปี 2024 การประชุมระดับรัฐมนตรีฯ ในครั้งนี้มีผู้เข้าร่วมระดับรัฐมนตรี ผู้บริหาร และบุคลากรที่เกี่ยวข้องจากทั่วโลกกว่า 1 พันคน
วันนี้ (18 พฤศจิกายน 2563) ที่โรงเเรม Millenium Hilton กรุงเทพฯ นายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงสาธารณสุข มอมหมายให้นายเเพทย์เกียรติภูมิ วงศ์รจิต ปลัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข ร่วมกับเอกอัครราชทูตเนเธอร์เเลนด์ประจำประเทศไทย (His Excellency Mr.Kees Rade) พร้อมด้วยนายแพทย์สุระ วิเศษศักดิ์ รองปลัดกระทรวงสาธารณสุข และนายแพทย์โอภาส การย์กวินพงศ์ รักษาราชการแทนอธิบดีกรมควบคุมโรค ร่วมเปิดการประชุมระดับรัฐมนตรีว่าด้วยวาระความมั่นคงด้านสุขภาพโลก ครั้งที่ 6 โดยมีผู้ร่วมประชุมภายในงานและผ่านระบบออนไลน์รวมกว่า 1,000คนทั่วโลก
ทั้งนี้ ประเทศไทยได้รับมอบเป็นประธานต่อจากประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ แสดงให้เห็นว่าไทยมีความพร้อมและมีศักยภาพมากพอในการจัดการภาวะฉุกเฉินทางสาธารณสุข เห็นได้จากไทยได้รับคำชื่นชมจากผู้อำนวยการองค์การอนามัยโลก (Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus) ที่สามารถรับมือและควบคุมสถานการณ์การระบาดโรคติดเชื้อโคโรนา 2019 (โควิด 19) ได้เป็นอย่างดี
ในช่วง 10 เดือนที่ผ่านมา ทั่วโลกได้รับผลจากการแพร่ระบาดของโรคโควิด 19 และมีการปรับตัวเพื่อลดผลกระทบดังกล่าว สิ่งเรียนรู้สำคัญที่ได้จากการระบาดครั้งนี้ คือ การทำงานร่วมกันของทุกภาคส่วน ทั้งภาครัฐ เอกชน และภาคประชาชน รวมทั้งการทำงานร่วมกันระหว่างประเทศ
นายแพทย์โอภาส กล่าวว่า แม้การจัดงานในครั้งนี้จะถูกจัดขึ้นในรูปแบบออนไลน์เป็นครั้งแรก แต่ยังคงได้รับการตอบรับจากสมาชิกวาระความมั่นคงด้านสุขภาพโลก (GHSA) เเละประเทศที่ไม่ได้เป็นสมาชิกอย่างกว้างขวาง อันสะท้อนถึงความสัมพันธ์เเละความเเข็งเเกร่งของการทำงานเพื่อบรรลุเป้าหมายในการสร้างความมั่นคงทางด้านสุขภาพให้กับประชาชนทั่วโลกภายในปี 2024 โดยเฉพาะประเด็นการสร้างขีดความสามารถในการป้องกัน ตรวจจับ และตอบสนองต่อการระบาดของโรค ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในปัจจัยความสำเร็จหลักที่ผู้นำระดับสูงของประเทศสมาชิกกลุ่มประเทศว่าด้วยความมั่นคงด้านสุขภาพโลกได้ให้ความสำคัญ
การประชุมครั้งนี้เป็นก้าวสำคัญของทุกประเทศ โดยเฉพาะประเทศไทยที่จะทำให้ทั่วโลกตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของความมั่นคงทางด้านสุขภาพโลก และการเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อตอบโต้ภัยสุขภาพที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นซ้ำหรือเกิดขึ้นใหม่ในอนาคตได้อย่างทันท่วงที เเละลดผลกระทบทุกด้านอย่างสมดุลผ่านการทำงานร่วมกันของทุกภาคส่วน
